Slap & Track battery life

Our new, third-generation core modem technology significantly increases a Slap & Track™ terminal’s operating life on a single battery pack. Thanks to new “smart” power management, these terminals can operate for up to six years.

Slap & Track’s sophisticated power management system, similar to the power management technology used on today’s most efficient laptop computers, automatically shuts down components when they’re not needed. Cellular-based tracking terminals, on the other hand, require far more power to operate and may even draw significant power when not in active operation.

The result? An asset-tracking terminal that lasts longer and costs less to maintain.

Based on SkyBitz' own Battery Life Calculator, a SkyBitz termina's battery life is 3.1 years.* A Slap & Track terminal can last up to six years, or roughly double that of SkyBitz, with a faster wake-up response.

*SkyBitz' Web site product information states that their GLS terminals can be awakened in as little as one hour. TransCore Slap & Track terminals can be awakened in 30 minutes or less, or at least twice as fast as SkyBitz. SkyBitz' Battery Life Calculator claims that its GLS 200 terminal battery will last 3.1 years with a 1-hour wake-up cycle, when delivering two reports per day. A TransCore Slap & Track terminal's batteries will last up to six years with the same reporting schedule and 30-minute wake-up cycle.
