How does TransCore® Slap&Track battery life compare to SkyBitz' battery life?
Given similar configurations, a TransCore Slap&Track mobile terminal has roughly twice the battery life of a SkyBitz mobile terminal. TransCore engineers put Slap&Track terminals in the field and measured performance, power consumption, response and battery capacity in all conditions. We analyzed our field results against SkyBitz’ own battery life calculators.

Customers with dry van trailers typically set their Slap * Track terminals for a 30-minute wake-up cycle with two reports per day. Slap & Track's flexible over-the-air management lets you vary those settings for more sensitive loads.

We analyzed our field results against those reported on SkyBitz' website, using SkyBitz' own Battery Life Calculator. In a typical setting of two reports per day and a 1-hour wake-up cycle, SkyBitz rates its GLS 200 terminal at a battery life of 3.1 years. A TransCore Slap & Track terminal will last up to six years with a wake-up cycle that's twice as fast (30 minutes) as the SkyBitz unit.

How does the TransCore® Slap&Track™ GPS technology enable true geofencing?
True geofencing is when the position fix is calculated on the terminal itself. this means that the terminal onyour trailer is aware of its own position relative to the terminal as well as to the dispatch center. Other systems that rely on back-office processing can only determine asset location once a location signal is received. This approach requires additional over-the-air messages and may require additional time. TransCore's mobile satellite tracking terminals are accurate, fast and efficient, an important security advantage in true geofencing.

*SkyBitz' Web site product information states that their GLS terminals can be awakened in as little as one hour. TransCore Slap & Track terminals can be awakened in 30 minutes or less, or at least twice as fast as SkyBitz. SkyBitz' Battery Life Calculator claims that its GLS 200 terminal battery will last 3.1 years with a 1-hour wake-up cycle, when delivering two reports per day. A TransCore Slap & Track terminal's batteries will last up to six years with the same reporting schedule and 30-minute wake-up cycle.
